During the Opening Day talk, I shared the Sphero, an orb wrapped in translucent polycarbonate plastic, capable of rolling around and controlled by a smartphone or tablet. Educationally, there are many connections to real-world problem solving. Check out their website if you are interested in seeing some of the applications.
As we encounter new technologies, it’s important that we ASK intriguing questions such as:
- What can the technology do?
- What real-world skills can learners develop by using the technology?
- What if I had access to the technology in the classroom?
- How can the technology allow students to make connections between content areas?
What other questions do you have about the Sphero? Are there other new technologies you’d like to innovate with in your classroom?
