Differentiated Instruction, 35/180

Differentiated InstructionWhile visiting a 100 year old one room schoolhouse, and listening to the story about how Ms. Jones was the teacher in the schoolhouse for almost 40 years, I learned that Ms. Jones taught, on the average,42 students from grades one to eight in that classroom.  Naturally, this peaked my curiosity about how did Ms. Jones successfully differentiate not only by grade level, but also by ability in this one room schoolhouse.  Obviously, differentiation is s not a contemporary term.
