Using Choice to Personalize Education, 44/180

Using Choice to Personalize Education 1Contributed by Laura DosSantos, High School Spanish Teacher

If we want students to “buy in,” we need to give them a voice and, in turn, listen to their voices. Education isn’t just about standards and curriculum, but rather about the experiences that accompany and support them.  By Using Choice to Personalize Education 2asking students to identify what they want to focus on or the manner in which they want to demonstrate proficiency or competency, we may just learn as much from them as they learn from us.  Education should be personal as much as it should be collaborative between all parties.

What would your school experience look like if given the opportunity for you to voice your choice?
